The hypersensitivity brought on by fibromyalgia can manifest itself in many forms and may vary with each individual. Some are hypersensitive to light, sound, scents, chemicals, medications, heat and/or cold. But one common and often overlooked source of pain from sensitivity for people with fibromyalgia can stem from your clothing choices.

This sensitivity to clothing cannot be completely ignored, after all, most sufferers must leave their home and continue with their daily life, thus clothes are needed.

1. Mostly cotton, have to wear sweats and t-shirts.I used to dress very nice have tons of nice clothes can’t wear anymore, almost never wear jeans anymore, has to be comfortable, let’s burn our bras lol. – Georgette

2. Anything soft and warm for me jean material hurts my skin I can’t wear jeans nor can I wear a bra I’ve tried just about every bra I could find and they all hurt me. – Carrie

3. Fleece for winter, would love to find nice trousers with fleece in the inside (not tracksuit bottoms). Find it nearly impossible to wear denim anymore.(Fleece lined jeans can be found at mills fleet farm) -Beverley

4. Cotton, the super soft, brushed kind. Or fleece when its colder. The loser and the softer the better. No tags of any kind, or any scratchy trims. Polyester is okay too if it’s cooler outside, otherwise it’s too hot. -Zoe

5. Any loose PJ material . Id live in them if i could! Found 1 pair of jeans that are comfortable (ish) and wear them every time i need to go anywhere . But id much prefer to wear cotton pjs for ever. -Vix B

6. Cotton, silk, jersey, and no tags. I have to cut the tags off of all my clothes because they make me itch. – Deb B

7. The worst ones pretty much anything tight, ripply, woolly, heavy, lacy or funky materials the best are loose, breathable, soft and tag less is best. – Kay C
