Fibromyalgia is a disorder that causes muscle ache and tiredness. People with fibromyalgia have “tender points” on the body. Tender points are specific places on the neck, shoulders, back, hips, arms, and legs. These points hurt when pressure is put on them.

Fibromyalgia may also be associated with a condition known as hematuria, in which blood comes out in urine. Many patients experience this order. So let’s discuss what hematuria is?  Hematuria, or the presence of blood in urine, is more of a symptom rather than a medical condition in itself. Although it can indicate a serious underlying disorder, most of the time, it is not of immediate concern. In some cases, the blood cells in urine are not visible to the naked eye and are visible only under a microscope.

This condition is referred to as microscopic hematuria. When the blood cells are clearly visible, the condition is referred to as gross hematuria. In both cases, it is better to get the condition evaluated to rule out the possibility of any serious underlying medical issues. As hematuria is more of an indicator of an underlying health condition, it does not have any specific treatment.

All treatments are aimed at controlling the health issue that leads to hematuria. The blood in urine might come from different parts of the urinary system, including the kidneys, ureters, urinary bladder, or urethra. Gross hematuria can be clearly identified by the presence of blood cells in urine, and is characterized by the pink, red, or light brown color of urine. In the case of microscopic hematuria, the color of the urine may not have any visible change.

Apart from the change in the color of urine, there may not be any other obvious symptoms for hematuria. Based on the underlying cause for the condition, hematuria may be associated with other symptoms, like bladder infections, kidney infections, kidney stones, and kidney disease.

Hematuria signs and symptoms

How can you tell if you have hematuria? If you have microscopic hematuria, then you actually won’t be able to tell since the blood in your urine can only be seen with a microscope. On the other hand, if you have gross or noticeable hematuria then you will certainly be able to tell.

Common visible hematuria symptoms include having orange, pink, red, dark red or cola-colored urine. It only requires a very small amount of blood to cause urine discoloration. It’s typical for a change in urine tint to be the only sign or symptom since it’s most widespread to have a case of painless hematuria. However, if you are also passing blood clots in your urine, then this can be painful

Risk factors

There are quite a few health conditions that can lead to hematuria. For some, most frequently elderly people, microscopic hematuria can be the only symbol that they have some type of sickness or infection. This is just one reason why a yearly physical that includes a urine sample is a good idea for people of all ages.

Hematuria causes can include Urinary tract infections (UTIs), Bladder or kidney stones (both can cause microscopic and gross bleeding), Kidney injury, Kidney disease such as glomerulonephritis, Kidney, bladder or prostate cancer (when there is visible urinary bleeding). However, in the early stages of these cancers there may be no symptoms. Certain medications such as cyclophosphamide (Cytoxan), penicillin and some anticoagulant (blood thinning) drugs can also cause hematuria. It’s not common however it is likely for very intense exercise to cause gross hematuria.

Runners are the most frequent athletes affected, but it can take place to anyone who takes part in particularly strenuous exercise. Why can this happen? Experts think most likely it occurs as a result of lack of fluids, bladder trauma or red blood cell breakdown due to long-lasting aerobic activity. This incident is occasionally called “sports hematuria.”

According to researchers, sports hematuria typically has a “benign self-limited course,” but it’s still important to rule out any other causes. Acute cystitis with hematuria can also occur. This is an abrupt swelling of the bladder, generally caused by a bacterial UTI. It is also possible that several conditions that lead to hematuria may exist at the same time. Some of the conditions that result in hematuria are not serious and do not need any treatment. If the underlying condition is not of concern, it may resolve on its own after a period of time. In any case, it is always better to get the condition evaluated by a physician.

Natural treatment of hematuria

Here are some of the natural ways to move towards several of the probable underlying causes of hematuria. A urinary tract infection is a very common cause of hematuria. Luckily, there are a lot of natural home remedies that can help a UTI and its consequential symptoms such as blood in the urine. One of the prime ways to help a UTI is to urinate over and over again.

Studies show that holding urine for a prolonged period of time permits bacteria to grow and reproduce within the urinary tract. This can lead to a urinary tract infection. For men, an enlarged prostate gland is more likely to be a problem as they get older.

A distended prostate can lead to urination problems as well as hematuria as the prostate wraps around part of the urethra, where urine passes through. If you want to keep away from or help to treat your kidney stones naturally, then there are numerous foods you’ll want to stay away from or lessen as much as possible. These foods consist of ones high in oxalic acid like spinach, rhubarb, tomatoes and caffeinated beverages, grapefruit juice, conventional dairy food.
