How Can You Help Your Child With Fibromyalgia

Whenever a child is sick, his parents do everything to make him feel better. If they fall down, they lend them hand and assure them that everything is okay. They do everything to make their child feel better. It’s the natural instinct of parents. But what should parents do when they observe that something is wrong with their child’s health?? By noticing the changes in the behavior of child, they can think that something is wrong with their child.

In that situation what parents are suppose to do? In cause of young children you can notice the change but cannot exactly point out the problem, because for young children, everything happening to them is normal. They are unable to help themselves.

Claudia Marek, author of the first year fibromyalgia, interviewed a group of children for a study, and she was astonished to know that 50 percent of them know that are suffering from sort of pain but the remaining acted as everything was okay and they are brave enough to handle the pain. She said most of them complained about pain and according to her they even didn’t know that pain was not normal.

Marek, herself was the victim of fibromyalgia. She has two sons and both of them are the sufferers of fibromyalgia. She grew up with fibromyalgia. Her mother and sister suffered from migraines. She brought in a environment where she had headache all the time but she was not able to explain as she notice that her headache was not the same as her mother and sister told.

When a child runs and he feel pain in his legs hurts every time. He will not be able to differentiate his condition and he will assume that its normal and every child face it. Fibromyalgia tends to be unpredictable and inconsistent with symptoms disappearing as mysteriously as they arose. If your child has problem in concentrating while doing his homework but he can manages his other tasks very well then it might be fibro fog.

A change in your child’s sleeping habits is also indicative of something wrong. If these changes are affecting your child’s daily life they obviously you will seek doctor’s opinion regarding this. A final and exact diagnosis will be a relief you and your child as well. Juvenile fibromyalgia is diagnosed by pediatrician by taking history, comparing the same symptoms in adults, eliminating other possible diseases. Sometimes you have to seek for second opinion when your doctor doesn’t know much about fibromyalgia.

Some families face difficulties unfortunately as people accused them that they are just imposing their symptoms on their child to declare them sick as a part of some sort of agenda. Marek said my mother faced the same trouble, when she took me to the doctor, the doctor snub her clearly and said that she was just encouraging my disability. If your doctor dismissed you then you have a right for second for second opinion.

Don’t underestimate your children. If they can do anything, let them try. The best thing you can do for them is to teach them a sense of pace. Teach them to start the task early, to stop when they feel tired and to catch up on better days. This is the best you can do for them.
