Cancer Institute Finally Admits Marijuana Kills Cancer

On the website PoliticusUSA an article printed contains the claim that an update to a National Institutes of Health document included a “quiet” admittance that marijuana “kill’s cancer”. The federal government and NIH In just the past two weeks have quietly confirmed that cannabis (marijuana) is very effectual at killing cancer cells without harming healthy cells like radiation and chemotherapy.

Actually on the NIH website devoted to the unsightly disease, Cancer.gov, they published the truth about marijuana and its efficacy at combating [sic] cancer in a striking reversal of over four decades of purposeful fear-mongering and propaganda portraying the common weed as hazardous; all to gratify the ravenousness of the pharmaceutical industry, prison system, and law enforcement agencies at the local, state, and federal level. For thousands of years Cannabis has been used for therapeutic purposes.

The possession of Cannabis is against the law in the United States by federal law, except within approved research settings; though, a growing number of states, territories, and the District of Columbia have enacted laws to permit its medical use. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration have not approved Cannabis as a treatment for cancer or any other medical condition.

Cannabinoids are the chemical components of Cannabis; they stimulate specific receptors throughout the body to produce pharmacologic effects, mainly in the central nervous system and the immune system. Cannabinoids, such as dronabinol and nabilone are commercially available; they are the permitted drugs for the treatment of cancer-related side effects. Cannabinoids may have benefits in the treatment of cancer-related side effects.

THCa, for example, has the same medicinal aspects as THC, but it does not have the psychoactive properties involved so you can utilize the correct dosage of THC needed to heal without worrying about seeing the walls breathing. All in all, this is a huge win for the Cannabis community, but we also need to be cognizant of what we are advocating for and what each part of the plant provides.

If the same study was performed with each of the other cannabinoids, we would see a result that would awestruck the modern medical community. Keep learning and growing fellow cannabis advocates. A more knowledgeable community will help drive legalization in the future.

I think it’s important to add that Marijuana is not meant to be a magical cure all for cancer. How badly do I wish it could, but cancer is not that simple? What’s really going on is seeing how we can use Marijuana as complementary medicine, rather than a cure. Its benefits are used in conjunction with other therapies such as chemo and radiation. Along with battling the demoralizing effects such as nausea, no sleep, lack of appetite, etc.

It’s a way of stacking the deck. I think those just goes to show how beneficial Marijuana can be to the medical industry, but also how much research is needed to understand complicated diseases such as cancer. Hopefully with more legalization it can lead to more research. Cannabinoids may slow down tumor growth by causing cell death, blocking cell growth, and blocking the growth of blood vessels needed by tumors to mature.
